Enoch’s Fellowship With God

Text: Genesis 5:21-24
21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Enoch walked with God. This was mentioned twice as if to draw attention to it. But notice in verse 22 it says that “Enoch walked with God AFTER he begat Methuselah.” What changed in Enoch’s life? Could it have been due to the birth of his firstborn son? It is unclear, but whatever the case, Enoch came to the realization that he must have a better relationship with God.

For 300 years, Enoch walked with God. He was an example of outstanding faith. “He has this testimony, that he pleased God” (Heb. 11:5). Then “God took him” (v. 24). Enoch would never experience death.

So what is your relationship status? Are you single or do you walk with God? All the finer things the world has to offer cannot compare to the sweet fellowship you will find in walking with God. Whatever your ‘AFTER’ moment is, may you turn to God; for He is ready to take you to a higher place in Him.

A relationship with God simply cannot grow when money,

sins, activities, favorite sports teams, addictions, or commitments

are piled up on top of it. Francis Chan

PrayerDear God, I want to walk with you as Enoch did. Walk with me! Take me to a higher place in you. I want to please you more. Amen!
