Text: Romans 16:25-27
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: 27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
Paul ends his letter to the Romans with a doxology (praise to God). His conclusion to the entire matter is that God has the "power to stablish you" (v. 25). The mystery has now been revealed through the "preaching of Jesus Christ" (v. 25). We are all united in Christ, as the gospel is "made known to all nations" (v. 26).
We live in a world that is growing increasingly apathetic to the gospel. Some are weary of the church in its current state while others constantly speak of certain hypocrisies that exist. Many no longer see the church as a legitimate institution, or Christianity as a viable way of life. Nevertheless, the gospel is declared to all nations, ethnicities, tribes, socioeconomical and sociopolitical groups. Furthermore, no denomination can lay claim to it. All must, and will, bear witness to its truth. Jesus was adamantine in His quest to bring redemption to the world, even unto death which was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
Paul explained it to Titus in this way:
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:11-14)
Prayer: God, thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to die for me. I am now redeemed and bear witness to the truth. All praise and glory belongs to you. Amen!
